The Wonder of You by Susan May Warren

Mortified after her semester abroad is cut short, Amelia Christiansen returns to Deep Haven, certain she isn’t brave enough for the adventures she’s dreamed of. The last thing she expects is for the man who broke her heart to cross the Atlantic and beg forgiveness.

Heir to a European hotel dynasty, Roark St. John has trekked from one exotic locale to another, haunted by tragedy and the expectations that accompany his last name. Amelia is the first woman to give him a reason to stop running. He’ll do anything for a second chance—even contend with Amelia’s old flame, who is intent on sending Roark packing.

While one surprise after another leaves Amelia reeling, Roark’s continued presence only highlights the questions pursuing her. Like him, is she running from the life God has called her to? Could finding her new place mean leaving home behind?

What I Think

The Christiansen Family Series has been a fantastic read. The Wonder of You is the story of the Christiansen family’s youngest, Amelia. Amelia was surprised to return home and find not one, but two guys with their eyes on her. She must choose between her highschool sweetheart Seth, or the very handsome Roark. Join the exciting journey with Amelia and her romantic life.

Susan May Warren has again outdone herself writing this fifth book of the Christiansen Family Series. I love the characters in this family, and Amelia is one of my favorites. I was glad to read her story.

My Review

There are many Bibles on the market today, and I really like being able to review different ones. This one is a nice NIV Devotional Bible with the devotions written with men involved. There are 260 unique devotions that cover issues men struggle with in their everyday life. Another thing I found unique is the 52 myths that are listed in this book. Myths like “My anger is justified”, and this list the myth, as well as insights into what you can do to help you realize what it wrong with these myths.

I really like this new NIV Bible for me, and I highly recommend it for all men wanting to strengthen their Bible study and devotions. There are many insights in the Bible to help you grow in the Word! The Headmistress of Rosemere ‘Whispers On The Moors’ By Sarah E. Ladd

HEAD MISTRESSThe Headmistress of Rosemere  ‘Whispers On The Moors’

(Book 2)

By Sarah E. Ladd

Published by Thomas Nelson

Book Description

Patience Creighton has dedicated herself to the Rosemere School for Young Ladies. But the return of the enigmatic master of the estate puts everything she loves at risk.

Bright, sensible Patience knows what is expected of her. At twenty-five, her opportunity for a family of her own has passed, so she invests herself in teaching at her father’s school for girls. When her father dies suddenly and her brother moves away to London, she is determined to make the school successful.

Confirmed bachelor William Sterling also knows what is expected of him, but mistake after mistake has left him teetering on ruin’s edge. As master of Eastmore Hall he owns a great deal of property — including the land where Rosemere School is located — but possesses little money to manage its upkeep. When debtors start calling, he is desperate to find a new source of income, even if it means sacrificing Rosemere.

When a fire threatens the school grounds, William must decide to what lengths he is willing to go to protect his birthright. And when Patience’s brother returns with a new wife to take over management of the school, Patience suddenly finds herself unsure of her calling. After a surprising truth about William’s past is brought to light, both William and Patience will have to seek God’s plans for their lives—and their hearts.

My Review…….William Sterling is in sever financial trouble, and he plans to do whatever he can to fix his problem. But he is faced with more problems than he ever thought with Patience, her brother and his new wife.

If you read The Heiress of Winterwood by Sarah Ladd you will love The Headmistress of Rosemere. The characters are very interesting, and at first I didn’t like William at all. He was arrogant, and most people didn’t think the best thoughts of him, but as long as he got what he wanted, that was fine with him. I loved the interaction with the characters, though it was frustrating at times, but that’s what made this book so wonderful. The visit to Darby England in 1816 and the vivid descriptions of the scenes throughout the book is well worth your time in reading this book. I thoroughly enjoyed the historical setting Ms. Ladd enlightened us with! I love it when I finish a book and feel  as though I’ve been there in the setting with the characters. And this one did that for me.

All in all, I know you will enjoy this book with its really good dose of Christian fiction romance, the many twists and turns and the tension that seemed to be flying around the characters quite a bit! I am already looking forward to Ms. Ladd’s next book!

A Wild Goose Chase Christmas by Jennifer AlLee

Merry Christmas from Abingdon Press!

A Wild Goose Chase Christmas

by Jennifer AlLee

This book is part of a Christmas Blog Tour sponsored by Abingdon Press. Stay Tuned for more awesome Christmas books

in the next two weeks!

Upon her grandmother’s death, Izzy Fontaine finds herself in possession of a Wild Goose Chase pattern quilt that supposedly leads to a great treasure.

Of course, once the rest of the family finds out about the “treasure map,” they’re determined to have a go at the treasure themselves. And, if that weren’t enough, Max Logan, a local museum curator, contacts Izzy and says that Grandma Isabella promised him the quilt.

What is it about this quilt that makes everyone want it? Is Izzy on a wild goose chase of her own, or a journey that will lead her to the treasure her grandmother intended?

My Thoughts on this Book

A Wild Goose Chase Christmas is a really good story about the ups and downs of family life. I really like the Grandmother in this story, though she has passed away, she leaves something for the family that will be with them forever. Being one of Abingdon’s Quilts of Love Series, one of the special things the grandmother left her family was a quilt with lots of memories that will help heal the family difficult situations, and bring them close together. Each scrap of the quilt has a special place in a family member’s heart.

During the holidays, we think of family and love, and this book is just that. Though its a little different, because the love didn’t come easy, but as the gifts from grandmother appear, and the memories flow throughout the family, hearts heal. This is a wonderful book to read anytime, but especially during the Holiday Season. I always enjoy reading good holiday stories, and this one is a really good one! I highly recommend it for a great enjoyable read!
