MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

A Heart’s Betrayal is the fourth book in Colleen Coble’s A Journey of the Heat Series. This series is a previous series from Ms. Coble, this one is a very short book for each story. In this story, Emmie Croftner finds out that her late husband wasn’t the man she thought he was, the home and everything she had wasn’t hers after all. After relocating, Emmie meets a soldier that just might change her life.

As usual, Colleen Coble writes a story with characters are interesting and intriguing, and make the story interesting. The situations in Emmie’s life leave her with a life of tension, so much so that she can’t stay in her town any longer. This change in her life leaves a more and different type of tension, because of her new place and new people in her life. The one thing with these short books is that you have to wait a month to read the next short installment. For me, it is much easier to read the entire story at once. I am keeping all of these books and will read them again one after the other!

A Hearts Desire by Colleen Coble

A Hearts Desire by Colleen Coble

a hearts danger

Book Description

On the brink of war with the Sioux, a young woman risks everything to expose the betrayal threatening the man she loves.

Christmas is coming, and the air at Fort Laramie has turned cold . . . but relations with the Sioux have turned colder. As tensions between soldiers and natives approach a tipping point, Ben Croftner and Jessica DuBois prepare a trap for Rand Campbell.

Bitter from rejection and backfired plans, Croftner has enlisted the help of Rand’s new fiancée to keep Rand from ever returning to Sarah Montgomery . . . for whom his heart clearly still yearns.

Sarah is simply trying to move on with her life at Fort Laramie, but doing so under the watchful eyes of both Campbell-the man whose love she craves-and Croftner-the man whose lies have cost her everything.

Will Rand fall victim to the conspiracy and go through with his wedding? Or will he declare his love for Sarah and make good on the promises that brought her into the rugged western territories?

MY REVIEW  This is book three in the six-part novella series, Journey of the Heart. This series is a reissue of earlier writings from Ms. Coble, the Wyoming series. It is fun getting a new book each month to read, and they are all short, and can be read in one setting. In this book, Will Rand return home to marry Sara, the women he loves, or will deceiving circumstances cause him to marry another? Tensions are thick as this story unfolds and the truth comes to surface. Ms. Coble creates characters that make the story one that readers will not want to put down. But one thing with these short books, but the time you really get into the story, the book ends, and we have to wait another month to get the next book! Personally I would rather have the books in a shorter book series, to give us more to read at one time!

A Heart’s Obsession by Colleen Coble

A Heart’s Obsession

A Journey of the Heart Series

by Colleen Coble

a hearts obsession

Book Description

Can a woman held captive by her family make it back to the one man she knows she can trust?

When Sarah Montgomery’s father succumbs to his long illness, Sarah is faced with a life-altering choice: submit to her brother’s will and marry the deceptive Ben Croftner . . . or escape through the dangerous American West to reclaim the heart of her beloved Rand Campbell at Fort Laramie, Wyoming.

From captivity in her family’s home, Sarah makes her decision-and begins the perilous journey to Wyoming by train.

But even in the company of Rand’s brother, Sarah does not receive the reception she had hoped for. The necessity of a military wife has preempted her, and Rand is already engaged to Jessica DuBois, the seductive daughter of the post commander.

With her heart broken and her life in ruins, Sarah has no choice but to remain at Fort Laramie and try to win Rand back. But things will get tougher before they get easier . . . the obsessive Ben Croftner has just shown up in Wyoming.

What I think

Sarah Montgomery finally gets to join her fiancée Rand Campbell, in Fort Laramie, Wyoming but is he really excited to see her? Seems like he has found someone else to occupy his time, making life difficult for Sarah. But then when ex-fiancé Ben Croftner shows up in Wyoming, things get a little more exciting, or maybe we could say tension was filling the air more than ever.

A Heart’s Obsession is another short story in Colleen Coble’s A Journey of the Heart Series.  a reissue of the Wyoming series published around a decade, and back this time in 6 short books. Though I like short books sometimes, its kind of frustrating that we as readers have to wait so long for the next chapters in the book. Its like reading a few chapters, putting the book down, and after a month picking it back up again. I am just not fond of this type of reading myself. But as far as the story, I love it! It is awesome, just as all of Colleen Coble books are!! I will keep them all, and read them again in the order of the series, and will enjoy them much more. I hope this is not a trend that publishers are heading toward, but it will be interesting to see.

Butterfly Palace by Colleen Coble

Butterfly Palace

by Colleen Coble

butterfly palace

Book Description

Elegance and wealth. Privilege and politics. The extravagance of the Butterfly Palace overwhelmed Lily’s senses and nearly smothered her painful memories. She pushed away her misgivings . . . She was perfectly safe in this huge house.

Austin, Texas—1904: Abandoned by the love of her life and still mourning the loss of her mother, Lily Donaldson has turned her back on the pain and come to Austin for a fresh start, working for the Marshall family as a kitchen maid in their luxurious mansion, the Butterfly Palace. The tasks before her are legion, and her mistress less than pleasant, but at least Lily’s new life will be, if nothing else, distracting.

But one night, while serving at a dinner party, Lily recognizes the man who abandoned her, Andy, her liaison from the livery stable, the blacksmith’s son . . . sitting among the distinguished guests. Though he recognizes her, Andy does not acknowledge her aloud, and Lily is left reeling, flabbergasted, and irate.

But before she can get an explanation, the path of the Servant Girl Killer swerves very close to the Butterfly Palace, sowing terror among the maids. Having come to Austin to start anew, Lily suddenly feels trapped in a spider web. How can she know who to trust in a house where lies come dressed in fine suits and deceit in silk gowns the colors of butterfly wings?

My Review

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book. Would it be a heartwarming story about butterflies, or is there something else altogether lurking within the pages of Butterfly Palace? Well, its a whole lot of both! And if you are familiar with Colleen Coble’s writing, you know there is some mystery or suspense and thrills somewhere in the story.

Loosing her mom and dad, Lilly decided to leave everything behind and move elsewhere to find a job. And she found one at the Butterfly Palace. And she finds out her boss is addicted to butterflies. Real ones as well as dead ones. They were everywhere, and Lily especially hated going to the ‘butterfly room’ in the basement, with dead butterflies lurking everywhere. Lily seemed to fit right in as a servant, but when she finds out about the Servant Girl Killer, she really wonders if she is in the right place. But circumstances places Lily in the middle of an illegal operation, causing dangerous situations to Lily and those around her.

Its difficult for me to write a review on this book because I want to tell you what it is all about, and that will ruin it for you. I know some people have already let the cat out of the bag, or maybe the butterfly out of its cage, but I can’t do that. I will say that if you enjoy and good whodoneit thriller, you will love Butterfly Palace. I fell in love with some of the characters, others were suspicious, but I wanted to find out about them all! And just as I thought I had the plot all figured out, Ms. Coble weaves so many twists and turns, suspicions about so many people, that I had no idea who was going to be guilty! I highly recommend this new book by Colleen Coble. You will fall in love with Ms. Coble and her awesome writing skills!

MY REVIEW

Libby loves old historical buildings so much that she has made a career out of it. She and her best friend and partner Nicole restores old buildings and sells them. Little did Libby know that she would inherit a masterpiece historical building for herself, and from family she didn’t even know she had.

Libby’s arrival on the Island, finding out she was now owner of the Tidewater Inn, and meeting her new family and the folks on the Island was more than Libby could comprehend. And then when the lights are turned on her as a suspect in her friends murder, well things start getting a little touchy, nasty and very intense and interesting on this small little Island.

Libby is a sweetheart and everyone can learn from her soft spoken, graceful attitude. And for me, the question What Would Jesus Do? Now has a whole new meaning. And Alec is a man everyone wants to have! He’s just adorable! Colleen has created a cast of characters in Tidewater Inn that you will grow to love and adore. The are so very real-life that I sometimes felt like they were family or close friends. I love characters that give readers this feeling. And Aunt Pearl, a character created in the image of Colleen’s own grandmother is the binding that brings the story together. Between Aunt Pearl and Ray’s love for the Lord, my desire is to be more like these two wonderful characters. People who selflessly love God and show it in their everyday lives.
