A Simple Amish Christmas by Vannetta Chapman
Annie Weaver had left home several years ago and was living among the Englisch, at which time she went to college for a nursing degree. She is called home to help her family after her father was in a horrific accident, breaking both of his legs. Being at home she finds she desires for the plain living she was brought up with and realizes how much she has missed it.
Samuel couldn’t accept Annie’s career as a nurse and just didn’t think she could care for her dad the way that was needed, but she was determined to convince Samuel Yoder that he was wrong! And he watched Annie care for her dad, Samuel realized she did have the skills to properly care for him, but would the community and church accept her because of her college degree?
I love Amish fiction and getting to know new authors, and Vannetta Chapman is a new author for me. What an enjoyable heartwarming story to read. The characters were so sweet and adorable, and very likeable. Annie was a sweetheart and even though she had been living with her aunt among the Englisch, she was willing to up-root her life and come home to help. What a humble young woman. And Samuel, why is he giving her such a difficult time? Even though he is still grieving the loss of his family, he could be more caring and considerate. But then when he starts seeing her in a different light, could sparks begin to fly?
The love and forgiveness the author so wonderfully weaves in this story causes us to realize that this is just what Christmas should be about. I encourage you to grab a copy of this wonderful Amish novel and read it for your Holiday enjoyment.
